8 days desert experience from Casablanca: the best Morocco trip starting in Casablanca

For travellers looking for an exotic and immersive experience, Morocco is a dream destination. It has beautiful landscapes, a rich past, and a lively culture. this 8 days desert experience from Casablanca takes you to some of the country’s most famous spots. This Morocco trip starting in Casablanca will take you from the busy streets of Casablanca to the peaceful beauty of the Merzouga Desert and the historic sites of Marrakech. It will be an exciting and memorable trip. Let’s start this exciting journey together and spend each day discovering new things.

Details of this Morocco trip starting in Casablanca
Day 1: Rick’s Café, Hassan II Mosque, and the Corniche in Casablanca

On the first day of our 8 days desert experience from Casablanca, we arrive in Casablanca, the country’s cultural and economic center. The first day of our trip is all about seeing the city’s best sights. Later, our first stop is the amazing Hassan II Mosque, which sits proudly by the Atlantic Ocean and is a work of art in terms of architecture. There are beautiful ocean views and lots of intricate features inside the mosque that make it a must-see. As we look around inside, we are amazed by how well it was built and how traditional and modern Islamic art have been combined.

We will go to the famous Corniche after visiting the mosque. The Corniche is a beautiful coastal area where locals and tourists come to rest, enjoy the sea breeze, and enjoy the views. There are many shops and restaurants along the Corniche, which makes it a great place to enjoy a coffee or lunch break.

We are taken back in time when we walk into Rick’s Café in the evening. Inspired by the famous movie “Casablanca,” this café has all the style and memories of the 1940s. It’s a great place to enjoy a delicious meal while feeling like you’re in a romantic movie. Because it’s dimly lit and has traditional Moroccan and foreign dishes. This mix of history, culture, and modernity sets the mood for the magical trip that lies ahead.

Day 2: Start in Casablanca and spend the afternoon exploring Marrakech.

On the second day, we will leave Casablanca and set out to see the beautiful city of Marrakech. Here, we’ll be driving through some of Morocco’s beautiful scenery, from the modern city of Casablanca to the old Marrakech.

When we get to Marrakech, nicknamed “Red City” because of its red sandstone houses, we go straight to the Medina. Marrakech is a city of extremes, where old customs and new ideas live together in harmony. In addition, the maze-like streets of Medina are full of lively souks where we can bargain for beautiful handmade goods, fabrics, and spices. Also, it gives us a chance to experience the rich culture of Morocco.

We’ll come across the Koutoubia Mosque, considered the biggest mosque in Marrakech, known for its beautiful minaret. We will also visit the Bahia Palace, a beautiful building from the 1800s with beautiful grounds and intricate tilework. The afternoon is a great time to enjoy the city’s unique atmosphere and get used to its lively energy.

Day 3: From Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert; ride camels and spend the night in a camp in the desert.

On Day 3 of our Morocco trip starting in Casablanca, we will head into the amazing desert, which changes everything. Our drive from Marrakech to Merzouga takes us through beautiful, changing landscapes that help us learn more about Morocco.

As we get closer to the desert, the land changes from lush plains to dry dunes, and our joy grows. As soon as we get to Merzouga, the beauty of the desert is revealed by the dunes that meet us.

The camel ride through the middle of the desert is one of the best parts of this day. There is nothing else like riding these soft giants across the golden sands. It’s hard to describe how peaceful and amazing the desert is. The sound of the wind blowing through the dunes, the dancing camels, and the sheer size of the place all add to the feeling.

We get to a traditional desert camp tucked away in the dunes as the day turns to night. You feel like you’re in the middle of the Sahara during this experience. There are bright rugs and traditional seats all over the camp, and it’s a beautiful night in the desert. We’ll have a tasty Moroccan dinner and listen to live music by a campfire. We can look up at the Milky Way while lying down on soft cushions, away from the city lights. And feel the old spirit of the desert surrounding us. We will always remember this night of stargazing, sharing stories, and learning about other cultures.

Day 4: See the Merzouga Desert

We really get into the magic of the Merzouga Desert on the fourth day. The day starts with the sun slowly rising over the huge sand dunes, giving the whole area a warm, golden colour.

We start with a cool breakfast in the desert camp, with tastes that are typical of Morocco. We have the chance to see more of the desert after breakfast. Sandboarding is an exciting activity for people who want to try something new. We can slide down the slopes and enjoy the rush of the wind as we go. The tall dunes will be our background.

As the day goes on, we’ll take a 4×4 trip into the middle of the desert to explore its unique, always-changing landscape. Not only is the desert a huge area of sand, but it is also a complicated ecosystem with its own plants and animals. The background of the desert and the nomadic groups that have lived there for hundreds of years will be told by our guide.

After Lunch

Lunch will be served in a traditional desert setting, where you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and tasty local food. We can either take it easy and enjoy the peace and quiet of the desert, or those who want to try something new can go for a walk among the dunes and enjoy the beauty and solitude of this huge area.

We’ll go back to the camp as the sun goes down for another night in the desert. The evening is a celebration of the customs and culture of the area. A traditional dinner will be served to us while live Berber music and dance create an atmosphere that truly captures the spirit of the Sahara. We’ll go to sleep in our cozy tents under the stars, listening to the sounds of the desert and feeling the awe that only this one-of-a-kind place can give us.

Day 5: Merzouga, the Todra Canyons, and the Dades Valley.

On the fifth day of this Morocco trip, starting in Casablanca, we will launch by leaving the Merzouga Desert, its tall dunes, and the peaceful desert camp that had become our temporary home. As we continue our trip, we pass through Morocco’s ever-changing scenery on our way to our next stops, the Todra Canyons and the Dades Valley.

Our path takes us through the rough High Atlas Mountains, which are very different from the vast plain we came from. We’ll see the scenery change from rocky mountains to green oases along the way.

The Todra Gorge is our first stop. It is a beautiful set of limestone river tunnels that were formed by the Todra River millions of years ago. The gorge is very narrow, only 20 meters wide at its widest point. The walls are very tall, reaching up to 300 meters in height. This is a beautiful nature attraction where you can go hiking and exploring.

After Lunch

After going through the Todra Canyons, we go to the Dades Valley, which is also known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs” because it has so many old Kasbahs. People love the valley for its lush palm groves, cute towns, and fertile oases. We’ll take our time walking through the valley, enjoying the beautiful views and maybe even meeting some of the Berber people who live there and whose culture is deeply connected to this green area.

As the day comes to a close, we’ll settle into our lovely kasbah or riad in the Dades Valley. You can stay in these traditional Moroccan buildings, but they’re also great places to learn about the country’s rich architectural history and friendly people. We’ll have dinner at our hotel, where fresh, local foods will be used to make delicious Moroccan dishes. We will enjoy the day’s natural beauty, learn about the culture, and learn to appreciate Morocco’s varied scenery.

Days 6 and 7: Dades Valley, Amridil Kasbah, Ouarzazate, High Atlas, and Marrakech

Our sixth day in Morocco is a trip through history and scenes from movies. On our way back to the lively city of Marrakech, we’ll see the beautiful High Atlas Mountains, explore the interesting Amridil Kasbah, and go to the city of Ouarzazate.

We will start the day by going to the Amridil Kasbah. Definitely, is one of the most famous and well-preserved kasbahs in Morocco. A UNESCO World Heritage site, this building is very old and goes back to the 17th century. With its detailed and classic design, it shows how well Morocco’s kasbahs are built. We learn about the country’s history and customs as we look around its courtyards, rooms, and lush gardens.

We said goodbye to the Amridil Kasbah and headed for Ouarzazate, a city that is known as the “Hollywood of Africa” because of its role in the movie business. Many well-known movies and TV shows have been filmed in Ouarzazate, which is also home to Atlas Companies, one of the biggest film companies in the world. We’ll be able to look around the studio and learn about the background of movies in the area.

Second Part

The next part of our trip takes us through the High Atlas Mountains, which are one of North Africa’s most beautiful and rough mountain areas. The road goes through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, which is a high mountain pass more than 2,260 meters above sea level. where the wonderful views of the mountains, valleys, and traditional Berber towns can be seen from afar.

We come back to the lively city of Marrakech as we go down from the High Atlas Mountains. This is the end of our Morocco trip, starting in Casablanca. Morocco is very different and interesting. The peaceful mountain scenery, the old Kasbah, and the busy city of Marrakech are all very different from each other.

We’ll have a big dinner in Marrakech in the evening and talk about our exciting day. While looking forward to the last part of our trip to this beautiful country.

Day 7: Take a tour of Marrakech with a local.

On the seventh day of our Morocco trip starting in Casablanca, we will learn more about the lively city of Marrakech with the help of a local. We’ve already seen some of Marrakech’s most famous sights on our own, but today’s adventure is all about finding the city’s secret gems and learning more about its history and culture.

The first thing we’ll do today is go to the Saadian Tombs, a historical site that was hidden for hundreds of years until it was found again in 1917. Members of the Saadian dynasty are buried in these tombs, which give a unique look into Morocco’s royal past. The design and intricate tilework inside the mausoleum are truly amazing.

Next, we’ll check out the Majorelle Garden, which is a peaceful haven in the middle of the city. The park was designed by the French artist Jacques Majorelle. It is a colourful patchwork of plants, fountains, and bright blue buildings. It’s a peaceful place to get away from Marrakech’s busy streets and a reminder of the city’s artistic history.

We will be able to walk through the busy streets of Marrakech’s Medina again after seeing the Majorelle Garden. The busy souks have a wide range of goods.

Day 8: Get to the airport.

This 8 days desert experience from Casablanca is over. And our services are over with fond memories of the beautiful scenery, rich history, and friendly people we met. We got to see the best of Morocco on this trip, from the modern city of Casablanca to the beautiful desert, historic towns, and lively Marrakech.

Well, I am happy to say that Days Morocco Tours has kept its proposal and more! Everything was done to perfection. We were welcomed at the airport by Hassan, our driver. In a few minutes we became friends! He speaks Italian perfectly, he knows Morocco very well, its people, its history and its geography. We were impressed by how safe and mature he is as a driver. We didn’t find a single case where we felt insecure in his car or thought he was breaking the traffic rules. Hassan’s knowledge of roads inside cities and across the mountains (he jokingly described this talent as the Berber GPS) is incredible! He is polite and courteous and he did in four to make sure we did not have any inconvenience. When we reached places like Chefchouen, Fes and Marrakech, we didn’t have to worry about carrying our luggage through the cars-forbidden roads of the medines to reach our hotels, because Hassan would have already called and arranged someone to meet us at the car. Curiosities: Hassan is a great drummer: together with other Berber musicians gave us a musical evening during our stay in the luxury camp of Days Morocco tours in the Sahara desert! Mohammed, if you are reading, Hassan is a real resource for your company!
