Marrakech, Atlas Mountains, and Zagora desert on the FIRST DAY

The two-day desert excursion will begin with a meeting at your hotel. Proceed in the direction of the Zagora desert. At 2,260 meters, the Tizi Ntichka Pass is the highest serpentine route in Morocco. The highway is one of the earliest French-built roads in Morocco. After that, we will visit Taourirt Kasbah in the city of Taourirt, which is known for its artistic and cinematic influence. Continue to Africa’s premier film studio, where international films such as Lawrence of Arabia were shot. Later, we will have lunch before travelling to the Zagora desert. Put on our shawls and mount the camels so we can travel to the camp on camelback. During your two-day desert excursion, you will spend a memorable night under the stars.

DAY 2: Zagora desert – Draa valley – Marrakech

Your camel guide will ensure that you rise before sunrise to observe the natural features of the Zagora desert, after which you will consume breakfast and take a shower. The greatest valley in Morocco, the 1200 km-long Draa Valley, is where we begin our long journey through African and Moroccan landscapes. The Draa valley is a lengthy, verdant region surrounded by Berber settlements in an otherwise arid environment. The inhabitants of the valley rely predominantly on agriculture, including palm dates, vegetation for their livestock, and crops and vegetables…

After lunch, we will visit the Ait Ben Haddou castle, which was once a meeting place for caravans and affluent salt and gold merchants. We will then return to Marrakech by way of the Atlas Mountains. Your two-day desert voyage has concluded.

Note:

This two-day desert excursion will only take you to the Zagora desert, which has much smaller dunes than the Merzouga desert. If you have additional leisure, we advise you to visit the Merzouga desert, which features larger and towering sand dunes. If you have only two days, however, you should visit the Zagora desert to experience life in arid conditions.
